Black stone and metal

The bakery counter: a black stone top, display cases with cakes and a metal base lit from the plinth

Another BLOOM bakery in Bratislava: a serving counter with a black stone top on a metal base with a fine square relief, doors with semicircular stone pulls and a wash counter with the basin cut into the slab.

About the project

A second BLOOM bakery in Bratislava. The main piece is the serving counter: a black stone top on a base clad in metal.

The counter

The top is black stone with white veining and a thick edge; the same stone carries on along the bar by the wall. The base is clad in metal with a fine square relief, and a light strip in the plinth washes it from below, so in the evening the counter lifts off the floor.

Stone in the details

Instead of handles, the light doors carry semicircles cut from the same black stone. That single motif holds the room together: stone on the counter, stone on the doors.

The wash counter

By the window stands a wash counter in stone: the basin is cut straight into the slab, with no inserted sink, and the back edge rises as a low upstand.
